Million Dollar Quartet at MACC

The red-hot musical “Million Dollar Quartet” will raise the rafters of the Monument Arts & Cultural Center (MAC Center) with five performances, including a matinee, November 14 through November 17.  The rollicking show recounts an extraordinary event that took place on the night of December 4, 1956, when four young artists – Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash – gathered, by chance, at the Sun Record recording studios in Memphis, Tenn. The four immediately sat down for an impromptu and legendary jam session of early rock, country, and gospel standards. 

Michael Santora will return to Bennington to direct and play Sam Phillips, the fabled owner of Sun Records. Mr. Santora was last seen on the MAC Center’s stage in the role of Max in “The Sound of Music.” He has played Sam Phillips in productions of “Million Dollar Quartet” across the U.S. The musical is a rousing tale of broken promises, secrets, betrayal, celebrations – and fabulous music performed live.
